These various tasks require him to seek out the pump and generator locations surrounding the silo, causing the player to explore and backtrack through many areas repeatedly, including the room guarded by the Tentacles. In order to defeat the Tentacles, Freeman must first turn on the fuel and oxygen pumps, and then turn on the power generator that activates the rocket engine. Gordon encounters mostly aliens such as Headcrabs, Zombies, Houndeyes, and Bullsquids. He lands in a pool of water at the bottom, wanders through a toxic river and pipes, only to fall into a room which leads into Power Up.īlast Pit is the sixth chapter of Half-Life. After returning to the control room and killing the Tentacles with fire, Gordon falls through the cavernous space that once housed the creature. Gordon must avoid the Tentacle beast in the middle of the silo in order to seek out the machinery powering the engine. A dying scientist informs him that he must find a way to activate the rocket engine in order to destroy the creature. In the rocket silo, he finds a large tentacle-like alien obstructing the path to the surface.

It takes place in Silo D, a large abandoned Cold War era missile silo that was used as rocket test labs. The main goal is to kill the Tentacles by activating a rocket engine. Gordon enters a largely abandoned Cold War rocket test facility. Blast Pit is the sixth chapter of Half-Life.
